Bedfordshire’s Local Authorities and two largest Housing Associations have joined together to create a new way of letting social housing across Bedfordshire. The Partners are:
- Aragon Housing association
- Bedford Borough Council
- Bpha
- Central Bedfordshire
- Luton Borough Council
Between them, the Partners own and manage approximately 27,000 properties across Bedfordshire. You can view a map of Bedfordshire on the property web-page. The Partnership was formed in 2006 and aims to improve services by offering more choice and a more open way of letting social housing in Bedfordshire. Customers had told us they found it confusing that each landlord had a different way of assessing housing applications. Customers also told us that because they did not know how housing was allocated, they could not be sure the system was fair.
We knew this meant we had to make two major changes to our housing services:
- A single way of assessing housing applications across the County
- A simpler way of letting properties where customers could actually see how vacancies were being allocated
Both these goals were met in June 2009 with the launch of Bedfordshire Homefinder, a Choice Based Lettings service with a single assessment scheme for all housing applicants.
You can view the Bedfordshire Homefinder Allocations Scheme, download an application form and view vacant properties on the Bedfordshire Homefinder website. You can also view the housing options offered by each of the partners on the Housing Options web page.
